1950's Matching Necklace Clip Earrings Red Aurora Borealis Enamel Set;
I have had a bit of a thing for red recently - in vintage
jewellery, its quite hard to source nice pieces in red. I guess people
hang onto their red more than other colours? Not sure. It was
difficult to photograph this set and I don't feel I captured it. Soft
silvery-gold colour metal, articulated links, cranberry red cold enamelling,
it is the crystal that really grabs you - ruby with an aurora borealis
coating - all of which dates it to around the 1950's (because AB was not
made by Swarovski until around this period) - different light shows in
different colours, and you see flashes of blue or purple coming off this
colour/ coating. I have not seen another piece in this colour before -
and to find it with its matching earrings - fab!! Necklace is in really
nice vintage condition, measures approx. 16¼ inches / 41cm. The
clip on earrings have been worn more than the necklace so the backs are
showing normal wear and tear - some discolouration to the plating in line
with normal use and age, not visible from the front, the clips are in
good working order. The earrings measure approx. just under 1¼
inches / 3 cm. £48.00 |
